“ Savoy has always been one of our favorite places. Love their chicken rice, curry beef, pasta, and black pepper steak. Those are my favorite comfort foods any time! Service was excellent, even the sauces were amazing! ”
“ Savoy Kitchen serves hands down the best Hainan chicken spot I've ever eaten. The chicken is so soft & the rice is so flavorful; not to mention the sauces I also like coming here on Wednesdays for the lunch special bun rieu! The line gets long during lunch time so I like to go during odd hours but even when it's busy; they're good @ taking care of their guests :) ”
“ Favorite place for hainan chicken! Highly recommend this dish in this homey Chinese spot. You'll find many locals here and this place has been here for quite a while. id also rec the beef STEW curry. ”
“ Everyone's go-to spot for Hainan chicken!!! Although the portion has gotten alot smaller, they keep the great price/value which makes up for everything else. The dish still makes me full for one person so I think it's still worth coming here. To me a good Hainan chicken is the sauce that goes with the dish and I will argue that Savoy has the best sauce that pairs well. Ive tried Hainan chicken at multiple places but I will always choose to come here. The rice is pretty good too and never dry, but lacks a bit of that chicken flavor for chicken rice. I frequently order the Hainan chicken with rice and salad. The salad comes with an addicting dressing and the salad pieces are always fresh. Other repeats are the baked seafood casserole with the white sauce. Its soo good, they never give enough pasta at all but its packed with mushrooms, scallops, and comes with a fish and shrimp pieces. The mushroom pizza is our go to for the pizza section. It is also made with white sauce and comes with different kinds of savory buttery mushrooms. I recently tried the seafood pizza and I would say the mushroom one was way better and has more of a umami flavor. The seafood pizza was a bit bland and I just dont think pairs as well as the other pizza options. Sometimes we also get the escargot but its honestly not worth the price for the size and amount you get. Its yummy, garlickly, and buttery.. but the portion is insanely small so it makes it not worth the price point. The fried shrimp rolls are fun to eat and easy to share amongst, but also nothing special and a pass for me the next time. Ive always wanted to try the curry so maybe I'll order this next time! Service is always fast and friendly- usually when I pick up for to-go I am in and out in less than 5 minutes which I appreciate. ”
“ Great food and fast service. This place is always busy as they have many diners and many to go orders. Baked Halibut- 10/10 Creamy, cheese, and piping hot. This dish with a side of rice is amazing. ”
“ Savoy Kitchen was recommended to me by my younger brother's real estate agent. This restaurant is known for their famous Hainan chicken rice. It is located at the corner of Valley Blvd and Monterey St in Alhambra. They have their very own parking lot right diagonally across the street from their restaurant. Don't worry... parking is free. You can't miss it... there's a huge print painted on the wall that says "Savoy Parking... Famous Hainan Chicken Since 1982" LOL. It was late in the evening so I decided to call them and place my order for take-out. I was on my way out of town so I got a few food items. The lady who picked up the phone was very pleasant and nice. I got their famous Hainan chicken rice with half dark and half white meat, their signature Curry chicken with pasta, and very popular Shrimp pizza. Yes, it was indeed enough food for 2 days worth of meals. After I got here, I parked across the street and walked on over. I was surprised the inside was super tiny maybe 2 no more than 3 small tables. However, they do have a very nice covered outside patio dining area... quite romantic actually. They probably get really busy so do get here early to snatch yourself a table with minimal wait time. Lady behind the counter was friendly and sweet. My order was ready upon arrival and just had to pay for it. I was on my way soon after. My visit was quite quick. So now onto my food review... 1. Hainan chicken rice - chicken was flavorful and moist, rice could have been softer, love the ginger sauce, came with a fresh salad (will get again) 2. Curry chicken pasta - very well seasoned curry, tons of chicken meat, great portion of rice (will get again) 3. Shrimp pizza - slightly disappointed, didn't have much flavor to it IMHO, crust was thin, sauce was okay (probably won't get again) Will I be back again? Yes, for sure. I want to experience dine-in next time. ”
“ This place serves up delicious Hainan Chicken. Honestly, come for their chicken, cuz that is what they're best known for. Food: 5/5 We ordered their original Hainan chicken. The rice was fluffy and flavorful. The chicken was tender and very juicy. The sauces pair nicely with everyone. I like the spicy red one. Service: 5/5 The service was great. We got seated right as soon as our whole party was present. We ordered and they literally brought out the dishes in less than 5 minutes. Guess it was premade and only needed to be assembled. Ambiance: 5/5 We got seated outside. It was beautiful day so it made it so much better. ”
“ |[ c l a s s i c ]| Classic spot in the 626! I especially like that there's a white meat option with no skin, the meat was tender and the rice was lightly but perfectly flavored-- the sauces are what makes the flavor pop and it was really filling and good! |[ y o o m ]| Service was quick and efficient, with outdoor seating avail. Tight little space so not exactly known for the ambiance but gets the job done and for an Asian place really attentive and considerate. Parking lot avail. Wish list: if they offered black/purple rice or otherwise more carb-conscious options I'd be even more ecstatic! ”
“ Visited this place for the first time since post pandemic to eat some solid hainanese chicken and rice. The outdoor seating was a nice addition and they added cute holiday decor for Christmas. The service was quick and friendly. I arrived on a Friday late lunch time and was seated immediately. Hainan chicken with rice was mid, sauces were good, and the traditional pasta I ordered on a whim was good for the price and the complimentary bread was good. Overall I think I'm leaving a bit disappointed but might come back just for the nostalgia and the ginger sauce. Parking: street parking and private lot across the street P.S I would give them a 3.5 but rounding up to a 4. ”
